The Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) also plays an important role in the development and deepening Chinese-Hungarian sports relations.
The Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) and the ELTE PPK Institute of Sports Science in Szombathely played a friendly football game recently. The game was initiated by Victor Ma, a member of the World Leisure Organisation's Executive Board, with the aim of expanding cooperation between China and Hungary. The main aim is to send Hungarian footballers to China for training camps and to organise friendly matches in the Asian country.
The partners have met three times so far at TF’s campus to discuss possible areas of cooperation. At the event, Hungary was represented by Professor Miklós Bánhidi, Associate Professor of the Department of Recreation at TF, President of the World Leisure Youth Ambassadors Committee, Dr Csaba Ökrös, Vice Rector for General Affairs at TF, Dr János Tóth Jr, Associate Professor of the Department of Sport Games and Gábor Csele, representative of the International Relations Centre.
The Chinese partners were represented by Zhang Te-ping (President, Sandong Association Hungary), Zhang Xiao-wei (Vice President) and Zhu Lei (translator, PhD student).
Partners reached a preliminary consensus on the establishment and expansion of cooperation, and the Hungarian side expressed its hope that the efforts and activities of the Hungarian Sandong Association will be given priority, approval and adequate support by the Chinese government. Hungarian football players can learn about Chinese culture through cultural tourism activities and this initiative could pave the way for inviting higher level Hungarian clubs and professional athletes to China in the future.
